Bulk terminals need reach without a purpose built material handler. This four section telescopic boom takes a fifty five tonne excavator carrier to thirty two metres horizontally with a 1.6 cubic metre clamshell, which is enough to strip the hold of a handysize bulker from the quay edge and to build a stockpile eight metres high in a single pass.
The telescopic arrangement is what makes the working envelope practical. Retracted, the boom is short enough to travel between berths under its own power; extended, it delivers the reach of a fixed long boom without the transport and permit burden. HX500 liners protect the discharge zone where grain, ore and clinker scour the steel.

Bulk carrier unloading, stockpile building and reclaim, barge loading, port warehouse handling, scrap yard feeding and shipyard block handling are the primary duties. The same boom also serves heavy civil projects that need to place concrete or remove spoil over a long distance where a crane would be slower and more expensive per tonne.
Hydraulic Matching and InstallationPort duty is continuous, so the hydraulic design targets oil temperature stability rather than peak speed. We specify a larger cooler, a return line filter with a bypass indicator and a load sensing valve block, and we calculate the flow split between the telescopic circuit and the clamshell rotation so neither function starves the other.
Packaging and Quality AssuranceThe four sections travel in two bundles on a flat rack with a certified lifting plan, each section in a timber cradle with the chrome rods protected by wooden cladding. The hydraulic kit, clamshell and rotation head travel in a separate case with the commissioning manual.
Each section is pressure tested, the telescopic chrome rods are checked for straightness on a granite bed, and the complete assembly is run through twenty full extension cycles at the factory. A marine paint thickness report, weld inspection record and load test certificate are issued with the set.
Customisation and DocumentationWe build the clamshell to the material being handled, offer a grab or a magnet as an alternative attachment, and can supply a rail mounted or pedestal mounted version of the same boom for fixed quay installations.
